Why Lasting Faith?

We want to see a generation of children and young people develop a faith that lasts.

Across Europe, churches and families are asking many of the same questions: How do we help children not only know about Jesus, but know Him deeply? How do we build a faith that endures through adolescence and adulthood? And how can churches and families work together to form resilient, lifelong disciples?

Lasting Faith creates space for leaders to explore these questions together through biblical reflection, research, practical experience and honest conversation.

More than a programme

Lasting Faith is not primarily about promoting one programme, curriculum or model.

Different churches, cultures and countries will need different approaches. But the calling is shared: to help the next generation know Jesus, belong in Christian community and grow into a faith that shapes their whole lives.

We want to learn from one another, ask better questions and identify principles that can strengthen child and youth discipleship across Europe.

Belong. Believe. Become.

Belong

Faith grows in relationships. Children and young people need communities where they are known, loved, listened to and given a meaningful place to belong.

Believe

We want the next generation to encounter the Gospel, engage deeply with Scripture and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus.

Become

Discipleship is about more than what children know today. Our hope is that they become resilient, lifelong followers of Jesus whose faith continues to mature through every season of life.

Learning from across Europe

Europe is diverse. Churches work in different cultures, traditions and ministry contexts, and there is no single method that will work everywhere.

That is why Lasting Faith is built around conversation and collaboration.

We want to bring together leaders, practitioners and researchers from different countries and traditions to share what they are learning, listen to one another and explore how lasting faith can be nurtured in our different contexts.

Lasting Faith Forum

The Lasting Faith Forum is one of the places where this conversation happens.

In 2027, three forums will bring together leaders in different parts of Europe for teaching, conversation, reflection and practical learning.

Each gathering will explore how churches and families can help form resilient disciples whose faith lasts beyond childhood.

Lasting Faith is an initiative of Awana Europe, part of Awana’s global commitment to equip churches and leaders for child discipleship.

For generations, Awana has helped churches reach and disciple children through Scripture, relationships and partnership with families. Through Lasting Faith, we want to contribute to a broader European conversation about how the Church can faithfully disciple the next generation.
